Rangers Agree To Terms With Grant

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with free agent forward Tommy Grant. Grant, 24, tallied two assists in his professional debut with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL on Sunday at Providence. Prior to joining Connecticut, Grant appeared in 37 games with the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association this season, registering 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points, along with 57 penalty minutes. He led the team with career-highs in goals, points, game-winning goals (five) and shots on goal (114), and ranked second on the Seawolves in assists and penalty minutes.

Rangers Sign Goaltender Jason Missiaen

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with free agent goaltender Jason Missiaen. Missiaen, 20, appeared in 53 games with Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) this season, posting a 10-33-8 record, along with a 3.33 goals against average, an .893 save percentage and one shutout. He ranked third in the league with 1,403 saves and fourth in minutes played with 3,026:06 of ice time in his first QMJHL season.

Rangers, Dylan McIlrath Agree To Terms

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Dylan McIlrath. McIlrath, 18, has skated in 59 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL this season, registering five goals and 18 assists for 23 points, along with 141 penalty minutes. He ranks third among team defensemen in points, goals and power play goals (two), and ranks third on Moose Jaw in penalty minutes. McIlrath established a career-high with his 18th assist of the season in a 5-3 win vs. Regina on March 1.

Rangers Agree To Terms With Ryan Bourque

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Ryan Bourque. Bourque, 20, is a two-time medalist at the World Junior Championship as a member of the United States U-20 team, including a gold medal in the 2010 tournament and a bronze medal in the 2011 tournament. This season, Bourque has skated in 47 games with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL, registering 26 goals and 31 assists for 57 points, along with 15 penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating in 47 games. He has established career-highs in games played, goals, assists, points, and power play goals (six). Bourque ranks third on the team in goals, points and points per game average (1.21).

Sharks Give Niemi Four-Year Extension

Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi signed a four-year extension on Tuesday. Niemi will average $3.8 million per season over the length of the contract, according to sources. "We wanted Antti to remain a San Jose Shark and he wanted to be here," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said in a statement. "Once he got through his expected integration period with our club, Antti's play has been outstanding and, just as important, he has consistently been a great teammate. And like many of his teammates over this past year, he worked with us on a contract that fits within our team structure and enables us to keep our group intact."
